Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted all of my future students to receive the musical experience that I never got when I was in school.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A 5th grade student enjoyed his musical experiences in my rock band class so much that he wanted to share his favorite music with me. After listening to his shared music and being taken aback with the inappropriate language, I asked him why he enjoys listening to these songs. He said that it helps him escape his life situation when his mother brings him out in the early mornings looking to purchase drugs. I was amazed that he was willing to share this with me but humbled at the same time.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to purchase a generator for our home as we have long winters in the state of Maine with little to no telling of when we will be living without power for an unknown amount of time. Keeping my beautiful family of 3 warm and fed during the winters is my top priority.
