Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to be a positive role model for kids to inspire to be like. I wanted to give them a safe, nurturing environment like my teachers growing up gave me.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My third year teaching Covid hit and shut us down the rest of the school year. I went and made Easter baskets for each of my students and hand delivered them to their houses that year. I’ll never forget the look on their faces when I showed up at their door during a very confusing and stressful time. Providing a little bit of happiness was the least I could do for those kids.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would get my students new desks and chairs. Their current desks and chairs are from the 1950’s and are very old. I would also provide them with a playground. They currently do not have one. Just a concrete backlot. I want to give back to my favorite place in the world, my school. The place that took a chance on a young, nervous, inexperience, teacher and changed my life.
