I remember walking down the halls when I was little very nervous from a childhood of where my mom left me and my dad was raising me on his own as a third shift, police officer. I had a teacher that would smile at me in the hallway and that’s all it took to make my day. I always knew I wanted to be that kind of teacher for another child. All it takes is kindness and us making a little extra effort each day to make these kids feel loved. When they feel loved, they want to learn!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and the school got together to wear pink bandannas for me when I lost my hair. The teachers and students were wearing them and it made me feel so good to have the support from everyone. It was also a very good learning experience for my students about empathy! I had many parents reached out to me, saying that it changed their students lives. 💗

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would put it into my classroom to make it the most epic classroom! I would love a classroom that makes you feel warm, inviting and also have supplies and snacks for the kids that struggle at home. I would also put it into helping me get my masters for educational leadership. The more I can give to my community by teaching children, the better!
