Tell us why you became a teacher

I have dreamed of teaching since I was in 1st grade. I had an inspiring teacher that showed me teaching could be a way for me to inspire, use my creativity and show up to help students daily. Every single day we learn something new and overcome challenges all while building relationships and I truly don’t take a second for granted.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Making holiday celebrations special for my students is something that I love doing. Being a 5th grade science teacher, we get the opportunity to explore daily. I love bringing science to life in the classroom. I encourage my students to feel loved and safe in my classroom and they know they can always count on me to be in their corner. We are a team and sharing in their special achievements and big moments is exactly where I need to be!

What would you do with the $25,000?

The options are endless with the chance to win $25,000! I would be extremely excited to give back to our Holdrege “small town NE” community. This town offers so many wonderful activities and encounters for our youth, and I would LOVE to be able to give back. Bringing in new technology into my classroom would be an awesome opportunity. One of my responsibilities in 5th grade is bringing our high achieving learners together throughout the week to work on STEM projects.
