After supporting families through CPS, I teach to encourage each student, foster a love of learning, and create brighter tomorrows.

I became a teacher inspired by my own childhood teachers and my work supporting children and families in social services. When my son needed help navigating learning challenges, I became a substitute teacher at his school to help support him. That is when I discovered my true passion. I love inspiring students, sharing my love of science, using hands-on learning, and helping each child recognize the endless possibilities within themselves.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceWhen I got my class list, I was told I had a “rough class,” but those 2nd graders growing up in a high-crime area, stole my heart. Our motto: “Do better, be better, you are capable of better.” Years later, after I moved across the country, a birthday video was texted to me. One of my girls said, “We are doing better, we are being better for you. We love you.” That moment showed me my belief still lives in them, and I hope it continues to inspire their belief in their endless potential.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I received $25,000, I would work toward my lifelong dream of owning a home, so I can open my doors to foster children. I would also create a permanent, larger outdoor food pantry for my school community. I started a small bin for families in need, but with these funds, I could provide consistent access to food and resources, supporting families and connecting the community in a meaningful way.
