Tell us why you became a teacher

Growing up, I was the girl who turned my kitchen into a lab and asked “why” about everything. Science made the world feel magical and understandable at the same time. I became a teacher because I want my students to feel that same spark—that moment when confusion turns into curiosity and curiosity turns into confidence. At 23, stepping into my own classroom means I get to make science loud, joyful, hands-on, and accessible for every single kid who walks through my door.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

The first day of school felt unreal—my name on the door, my own classroom, my dream finally real! I was nervous, but when my students walked in, everything clicked. During our first physical science experiment, we explored physical changes by observing matter transform right before our eyes. Their gasps excitement—it was the moment I realized I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I’d make sure the impact stretched far beyond my classroom. I would donate a portion to our local food pantry to support families in my community. I’d invest in equitable, hands-on science supplies so every student regardless of background—can experiment, explore, and discover. I’d create STEM family nights, bring in guest scientists, and build a classroom library filled with diverse science stories. I’d turn opportunity into access—and access into inspiration.
