I have been teaching for 12 years and currently teach an 8:1:2 life skills class for students in grades 1–3. Teaching is truly my passion.

Growing up, my sister had an IEP and received special education services. I spent hours helping her with homework and celebrating every small success. Those moments shaped who I am. I learned early that learning can feel vulnerable and that the right teacher can change everything. Today, I teach with empathy, high expectations, and fierce advocacy, striving to be the educator every child deserves.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was in an 8:1:2 special education preschool class. At the end of the year, we held a graduation ceremony. I worked with one student to stand and lead the Pledge of Allegiance. On graduation day, he stood tall and confidently led the room. The pride on his face—and the pride we all felt—captured the power of patience, belief, and high expectations.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded, I would invest a portion of the funds back into my classroom to enhance materials and learning experiences for my students. I would also set aside some savings to support my children’s future college education. Additionally, the award would help me make necessary home improvements, strengthening the foundation that supports both my family and my work as an educator.
