Tell us why you became a teacher

As a young teacher, I feel like I can relate closely to my students. I remember what it felt like to be overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of my direction. I wanted to be the adult in the room who balances high expectations with empathy — someone who holds students accountable while also helping them grow through their challenges and mistakes.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience has been the last 4 years. I had a student that was struggling with his behavior in his freshman year. I knew there was so much potential and he just needed to be seen and heard. Now, he is a senior and has become the most respectful and insightful young adult. As a young teacher, that experience shaped my entire philosophy. It taught me that the most challenging students often just need someone to see past the surface.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would first help my family with any thing they may need. Being a 25 year old teacher, this money would help me be able to move out of my parents house and start my next chapter. This could also help pay off the remainder of my student loans and start saving more.
