Through real‑world projects, I get to watch students find their voice, build their future, and come back years later to tell me they made it

Teaching had been calling to me long before I was ready to hear it. At first I didn't chose education, but life has a gentle way of guiding us toward who we are meant to be. My job as a classroom aide changed everything. Seeing students light up when they felt understood led me to pursue teaching. Now, as a career advisor, I help students discover their strengths and believe in their futures—the same belief that once changed mine.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching moment was watching a student who once doubted himself grow into someone who believed he could succeed. I supported him through setbacks, celebrated every small step, and watched his confidence grow. The most unforgettable moment came when he, and four other seniors, asked me to hand them their diplomas. In that instant, I felt the true meaning of teaching: believing in students until they believe in themselves.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use it to continue growing the Makerspace I’ve already begun—a creative space where students gain hands‑on opportunities to design, build, and explore new skills. Expanding it would give more students access to tools that spark curiosity and confidence. A portion would also help pay off my student loans, allowing me to devote even more time and energy to creating meaningful learning experiences
