Tell us why you became a teacher

Honestly, I became a teacher for the work and life balance. I did not realize how demanding the job was until I started teaching in my mid-30s. I try to maintain a work and life balance even though it is hard. I do not regret my decision. Now I enjoy my summers sailing with my fiance.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Hmmm. That is a tough one! I have a lot of memorable moments teaching science…anytime we are doing investigations or experiments are memorable because I love seeing my students smiling faces and their laughs. The past few years I have been a traveling science teacher because the room has been designated as a classroom due to our growing population. One year I flooded the classroom not once, but twice because I was busy running between getting supplies, to another room to get other materials read

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would give our science room a big makeover for next school year! I’m supposed to get my science room back and I would love to have more organization for small parts and larger cupboards to store my unit materials!
