I love teaching because I love kids. I enjoy spending my time giving back, showing kids the confidence and courage that’s already in them.

Learn MoreI became a teacher because I believe every child needs a constant. Yes, they have family and friends but when they are so young they don’t understand when things get messy. So as long as I can show up on the messy days (and the good) to provide support and encourage growth, I’m going to continue to do it.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceIn 2023, I was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. I was teaching second grade at the time and just totally lost and heartbroken. I spoke to families and students about the news. Instead of looking at it as a negative, I took it and started teaching students about their big, beautiful brains! We know celebrate “Brain Day” in February every year. Students get to complete hands on activities while learning about all the incredible things their brains do.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the money to further my education so I can continue to grow and learn the best strategies for my kids. I would also like to give some back to the wonderful little hearts I have had the privilege of teaching.
