Jessica Davis

I love teaching because I learn something new everyday! It is exciting to see my students learn, mature, and challenge me.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I decided to become a teacher my senior year at the College of William and Mary! Professor Christopher McGowan, my advisor in the English department, inspired me to do so. I saw the care and time he took with his students. I wanted to do the same.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was working for St. Joseph's Villa. I enjoyed working with special education students with behavior problems. I made it my mission to bring joy into their lives. I loved watching their growth ! Although it was a very challenging teaching experience, it remains my favorite. I am a better teacher for having worked with these students.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to settle my debt and buy a home and support my children. I would also make a donation to St.Joseph's Villa in Richmond. I am a survivor of abuse both as a child and an adult. This organization has a special place in my heart, and I'd love to give back! Working for them furthered my teaching career.
