Tell us why you became a teacher

I was a para and then the pandemic hit. They were in dire need of subs after we finally returned to school, so I began substitute teaching. After completing a year the school I subbed at, they asked me if I would become a permanent sub for 4th grade and in the process get my teaching degree. I completed my teaching degree as well as my masters in curriculum and instruction in the Winter of 2023.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moments are seeing the students I have taught in the past still want to keep in touch with me and visit me from time to time. It means a lot because as they grow up, so much changes for them. I want to still be a part of their lives and it means so much to me when I can!!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I'm a single mom of 4 wonderful daughters. I will use the money to make sure they have everything that they need for school and sports and possibly a starter car for my 15 year old.
