Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher, because I am determined to create a better reality for our country. Our young minds are our future and the more you instill love, empathy, and critical thinking, the better the future of our country is! I truly have an undying love for our youth and will do anything to uplift them and foster their powerful, positive voices. This is also my space to grow into a better person and leader. My other main reason is to be involved in my community as much as I possibly can.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was actually this year! My class of third graders published their own newspaper! They created different features, games, and informational research to include in the newspaper. I went out into the community to distribute them and we successfully had 15 businesses opt into displaying them! Seeing the pride on my students’ faces and the excitement when they got their first review back was an unforgettable experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would most likely use a little over half of it to pay off my student loans. The remainder would be split up between our house expenses and funding for even more cool projects for my classroom/school funding!
