I enjoy seeing the moment when students realize they are capable of creating something meaningful.

I became a teacher because I want students to feel understood and valued, especially those who may feel unheard or overlooked. School should be a place where every student feels seen, supported, and encouraged to share their ideas. I know that when students feel respected and listened to, they gain the confidence to grow, take risks, and believe in themselves. Teaching gives me the opportunity to give back by creating a classroom where students know their voices matter.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences as a teacher was when I discovered that a student was struggling with drugs. It was a difficult situation, and I knew it would not be easy for the student to hear, but I felt it was my responsibility to step in and inform her parents. At the time, she was very upset with me and felt betrayed. Years later, when she graduated, she sent me an email thanking me. She told me that what I did helped change the direction of her life and that I had saved her life.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were awarded the $25,000, it would go directly toward my children’s education. Education is extremely important to our family, and this support would help provide them with opportunities that will benefit their future. Whether it is used for private school tuition now or saved for college in the years ahead, the funds would be dedicated entirely to their learning and academic growth.
