Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help young people believe in themselves and succeed. For 27 years, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting students, especially those who struggle and helping them grow both academically and personally. I treat my students like my own kids and work to create a classroom where they feel respected, supported, and capable of achieving more than they ever thought possible.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was guiding my Student Council as they hosted the AASC State Convention for 2,000+ students. After being denied twice, they persevered and were chosen on their third attempt with the theme “Leaders Make Their Own Luck.” For two years they planned every detail (education, etertainment, food, budgets, etc). Working with them to grow their dedication, leadership and resilience made me so incredibly proud!

What would you do with the $25,000?

2025 was a rough year for my family - my mother in law passed unexpectadly; my son was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma; the upstairs bathroom flooded and leaked through to the downstairs needing major ceiling and wall reconstruction; I was rear-ended having my almost paid off car totalled and many other small house and life issues. I would use the money to pay some of the debt 2025 caused, finish home projects and take a family trip to relax together.
