Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe in the power of early childhood education to change lives. Helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally brings me purpose and joy. I love creating a safe, nurturing space where every child feels valued and capable. Watching their confidence build and knowing I play a small part in their future is why I teach.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a child who struggled with hitting and screaming learn to use his words instead. After weeks of patience, modeling, and encouragement, he looked at me and said, “Help please.” It was such a small sentence, but a huge breakthrough. Moments like that remind me why I teach—because growth happens in the little victories.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in my classroom and the children I serve. I would purchase updated learning materials, sensory tools, and technology to support early literacy and social-emotional growth. I’d create engaging learning centers, expand our classroom library, and provide hands-on STEM activities. I would also support family engagement events and ensure every child has the supplies they need to feel confident, included, and ready to learn each day.
