Tell us why you became a teacher

I wanted to make a difference in lives. I know I cannot, and will not be able to solve all the world’s problems, but when I’m old I’ll know that I encouraged young people to dream big, and that along the way I helped them gain some of the skills necessary to change the world. I want to be remembered for making students feel loved, and appreciated.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience as a teacher is when a 1st grade student came up to me and asked “do I have to go home? it’s so boring at home, there’s no learning there.” That is why I teach. I always want there to be learning, and curiosity in my classroom. To some a classroom is the farthest they’ll be able to travel, and explore the world. I believe in instilling a love for learning in all students.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were to win I would really love to save some of it to travel to Europe, and take lots of pictures. I would be able to share those photos and experiences with my students in the future, who may never get to travel to those parts of the world. I also would love to save some money for extra financial stability, and to put towards all my dream classroom materials and supplies for my students!!
