I love teaching 5th grade math in small-town West TN—building skills, confidence, and supporting kids in every part of life.

I became a teacher because I believe in the power of education to change lives. Growing up in a small town, I saw how much teachers impact not just academics, but confidence, character, and future opportunities. I wanted to be that steady voice, encourager, and guide for kids. Teaching allows me to share my love for learning while helping students grow into capable, kind, and confident individuals.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was during COVID in 2020. I remember the deep sadness of empty desks and quiet hallways, missing my students’ laughter and daily connections. Teaching through a screen was hard, but it reminded me how much relationships matter. That season strengthened my purpose and showed me that even in uncertainty, teachers can be a steady source of hope and support.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won America’s Favorite Teacher and received $25,000, I would invest it directly into our small-town school—updating classroom technology, providing hands-on math and STEM resources, and ensuring students have access to books and supplies they may not otherwise afford. I would also create enrichment opportunities and family engagement events so every child feels supported, valued, and equipped to succeed.
