I love teaching because it allows me to place a positive impact on students lives. I am able to motivate them to be the person they can be.

I became a teacher because when I was 4-years-old I was diagnosed with leukemia. Due to this I missed many years of school. With the help of my amazing teachers, they tutored me before/after school to ensure that I could get to grade level with the rest of my classmates. This has impacted my life in more ways that one and I want to leave an impact on my students that my teachers have left on me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience from teaching, was a student and her parent telling me that I have done more for the student in one year than an IEP has in many years. This is why I love my job. To make students feel heard, seen, valued, and accepted.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would put that money towards all of the student loans that I have from school, as well as donate some of it to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago to give back to them for everything they did for me when I was sick.
