Jeannetta Cremer

The past 30 years have flown by quickly. I love to watch students succeed and engage in learning. Not a day goes by, that I don’t learn.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I was fortunate enough to grow up with a teacher. My mother inspired me to become a teacher. My mom taught at my High School, and she was respected and admired for her work with students. I wanted to be like my mom, and that is why I wanted to be a teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

It was my first year teaching in 1996. I had a student that did nothing for any of his teachers. Being only 22 at the time, I figured out what motivated my student. Unfortunately, he had to leave the school. When the principal asked how he had an A in my class, I told her what I had done to motivate him. That is when I was hooked forever as a teacher.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would like to use some of the money for my students. I would also like to save some for my son who graduates in 2029. For my students, I would have a book fair, where they could get any book they desire for free. They love the smell of new books. Reading is so important to their future success. Reading incorporates all subjects. My 6th graders should have books that they can keep.
