Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to show children what I see in them even when they can’t see it themselves. I wanted to spark courage, ignite confidence, and help them feel proud of who they are. Every day I witness students rise beyond their own expectations, and there is no greater privilege than watching them discover their power and potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My greatest teaching moment came at the state championship drama contest. My students gave a performance so powerful it brought the room to life. We were disqualified for going over time, yet I couldn’t have been prouder. In that moment, I realized the real victory wasn’t a trophy—it was watching students believe in themselves and discover they were capable of more than they ever imagined.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the prize to give my students opportunities they might never have—books, art supplies, and experiences that spark creativity, courage, and confidence. I want every child to feel seen, proud, and capable of more than they ever imagined, and to carry the belief that someone truly believes in them long after they leave my classroom.
