I always wanted to teach. School was a safe place for me and it was filled good routines and people who cared. I wanted to create a place like that for my students and to share with them my love of Art and learning.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Some of my most memorable moments teaching is when I invite students and their families to make clay bowls for our Empty Bowls Events. We raise money to support our local food bank to help feed those in need in our community. For some it is their first time making clay bowls, for others they are excited to create once again. We wrap things up by coming together for an Art Show, great music, and a feast of food made by volunteers. It’s so wonderful to bring the community together!

What would you do with the $25,000?

Making this kind of money is something I can’t really fathom. Teachers are severely underpaid. I would like to donate a portion to Mascoma’s local food bank. The community means a lot to me, I may try to invest some, pay off some loans, and take my family on some vacations.
