Tell us why you became a teacher

To experience life, you need to learn what there is in life to experience. I wanted to help people (students) see and grow in all areas they will experience no matter (relationship skills, social skills, problem solving skills, etc.) along with exploring interests they haven't discovered yet whether that's in math, science, sports, art, etc. Once all those doors are open and students find success, that's when I know I went into teaching for the right reasons.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience came across 4 years of hard, dedicated and determined years to help a student learn to regulate themselves and be safe in the classroom. This student had struggles everyday in 1st grade due to his diagnosis. We built trust, structure, and clear boundaries together. By 5th grade we were able to spend time together in stress-free moments due to the gains he had made regulating and problem-solving. Now, he walks alongside his peers, confidently!

What would you do with the $25,000?

With the money, I would invest in my children's future to allow them to experience what life has to offer as well. I would also like to use the money to help my students continue to experience things in life that opens the door to their future and success. I would use it to bring students into the community along with educational things and people into the classroom to help explore those opportunities.
