Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because, from the time I was young, I admired my mom, who was a teacher. I loved listening to her stories about the ways she impacted her students and the genuine love they showed her in return. Seeing the difference she made inspired me to follow in her footsteps. I wanted to build meaningful relationships, support children as they grow, and create a classroom where every student feels valued and capable.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching moments was in first grade when a shy student who barely spoke at the start of the year volunteered to read aloud during our class celebration. After months of encouragement and small-group practice, she stood proudly and read an entire page with confidence. The class cheered, and she beamed with pride. Watching her believe in herself reminded me that growth happens when students feel safe, supported, and truly seen.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would invest in both my classroom and my family. I would enhance my classroom with flexible seating, updated technology, and a diverse library to better support my students. Personally, I would put money toward my children’s education and family experiences that create lasting memories. As a teacher and mom, I value growth and connection, so I would use it to strengthen both my students’ opportunities and my own family’s future.
