I love teaching because I get to help students grow in confidence, celebrate every small win, and make learning meaningful every day.

I became a teacher because I have always had a heart for helping others grow. I began my career as a Teacher Assistant in 2012, and during those years, I saw firsthand how powerful great teaching could be—especially for students who needed extra support. I realized I didn’t just want to assist in changing lives; I wanted to lead that change. In 2020, I stepped into the classroom as a Special Education teacher, and it confirmed that I was exactly where I was meant to be.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was helping a student who would shut down during challenging math tasks and say, “I can’t do this.” We focused on small wins and building confidence. One day she solved a multi-step problem independently and said, “I didn’t give up this time.” That moment wasn’t just about math—it was about resilience and believing in herself.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded $25,000, I would invest in adaptive math programs, hands-on learning materials, and classroom technology to better support my students. I would expand after-school tutoring for students who need extra academic and confidence-building support. I would also invest in professional development as I pursue leadership opportunities to impact students and teachers beyond my classroom.
