Tell us why you became a teacher

I am a teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel capable, seen, and valued. I teach to open doors—especially for students who need someone to believe in them before they believe in themselves. Education changes trajectories. Being part of that growth, helping students find their voice and confidence, is both my calling and my heart’s work.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was watching a student who once refused to try proudly read aloud with confidence. After months of patience, scaffolding, and belief, he looked up and said, “I did it.” That moment reminded me why I teach—growth isn’t always loud or fast, but it’s powerful, and being part of that journey is unforgettable.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won $25,000, I would use it to strengthen both my family’s future and my students’ opportunities. A large portion would go toward a down payment on a home, giving my family stability and security. I would also pay down my student loans to ease financial stress. Finally, I would set aside funds to support my students with classroom resources and enrichment experiences they deserve.
