Connect Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher so that I could help the young men and women in my community find there ( why). Growing up in the same community and making it out because of some of my teacher that took an interest in me and seen my potential and pushed me to be better. This made me wanna give back and be that person that inspires a young person to do better and reach for their goals no matter how big or small. I wanna see more inter city kids become something and make a difference in the community.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is taking a kid that was misunderstood, he was labeled as definite and unreachable, and meeting him on his level to let him know that he isn't alone. This kid went from 40 plus write ups a year to zero by the time he graduated. A lot of this kids issues where from a lack of a home and family who cared. Working with him day in and out showed him that someone was one his side and cared.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would donate $5,000 the special ed department at my school for supplies that will make it easy for them to do life skills: such as cooking and things then would need in everyday life. I would donate $5,000 to the school for school supplies for students that need it. with 10,000 I would start a scholarship fund for my kid that will be born in July and then the other $5,000 I would use to take my future wife and kid on a Disney cruise. I fully believe in giving back to the community.
