Tell us why you became a teacher

I became an educator because I had to do it myself. My parents dropped out of school at a young age. Mom was a homemaker and dad a laborer. We didn’t have much but I chose to go in the military to help me start my savings for college to become to best teacher ever that I could be to those that has it hard like I did. They are my inspiration and my joy to come everyday.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I teach pre k and a brother of my student was having a hard day and he would listen or do anything for his teacher u til “he was able to come see me and explain his day”! I was so pleased with that gesture. His sister said see I told you she was Awesome. We laughed he worked the rest of the day. Love being help in anyway possible. Small or large. You must want to do it or it’s a CHORE!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would do a class makeover then Hawaii with my husband of 39 years. We got married when I was stationed there in 87. I want to visit a school there and visit.
