I love teaching because I love connecting with the students and helping them find a reason to love coming to school.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I come from a family of teachers and educators so I was around teaching my whole life. When I was little I loved playing teacher with my friends and toys. As I grew up I never grew out of that phase. I have always been a person that knows exactly who I want to be and how I’m going to become that person so I just set my mind to teaching and I never thought I would enjoy anything else more.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite moments so far as a teacher was actually in an internship I had in college. There was a little boy who always struggled he never wanted to participate and those are the kids I really love engaging with. I sat with him and his partner and helped them complete a math activity and taught it to them one on one. Right after my mentor teacher gave them a pop quiz and the student’s eyes lit up when he knew what he was doing. He got a 100 that day and the teacher called home.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With 25,000 dollars I would love to fill my classroom with all the hands on learning tools/ manipulatives I could ever need through my teaching career. I would love to create a comfortable cozy home space for me and my students to learn in with every material we need without having to stress or beg my school to purchase it.
