I love teaching because I can empower students, build meaningful relationships, and create a classroom where every child feels empowered.

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I wanted a career where I could help others discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize their potential. My passion for social studies and helping young people grow naturally led me to the classroom. Teaching allows me to guide students academically while also helping them develop the skills and mindset they need to succeed in life.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was teaching a Colonial America unit where students fully immersed themselves in the time period. They analyzed primary sources, debated historical perspectives, and even used gestures and language from the era. Watching students take risks, collaborate, and truly connect with history showed me the power of interactive learning and reminded me why creating engaging experiences matters.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest the funds into expanding hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences for students. This would include immersive projects, classroom resources that support critical thinking, and field experiences that connect classroom learning to the real world. I would also support leadership and service-learning opportunities so students can see how their learning can positively impact their community.
