Tell us why you became a teacher

As a child myself growing up, I always found that I was playing school with all of my stuffed animals. My mom was an educator and I can remember clear as day going with her to every take your child to work day events. Just seeing how much her students admired her and how much fun she had “at work”, made me realize I was going to not only have big shoes to fill, but I dreamed of being one of those educators that just made a difference in shaping the next generation.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Being that I teach elementary school, we don’t often get to hear from the students about their success and next steps in life once they become adults. I always tell them I’ll see them for their high school graduations because I know I’ll get an invite . The very first graduation I was able to attend was one of the most fulfilling and memorable moments for me and this student! It was a full circle moment and the student praised me for never giving up them, even after they left my class and school

What would you do with the $25,000?

The 25,000 would go towards funding a school wide “fun-day” and incentives for our students, credit card relief, future travel expenses and investments!
