I became a teacher because I grew up watching my dad make a difference in the lives of his students. Seeing how he was able to encourage, and help students reach their potential inspired me. His example showed me that teaching is more than a job it’s a calling to serve others. I’ve always had a passion for helping young people grow and believe in themselves. Teaching allows me to mentor the next generation, and help them realize that their future is bigger than circumstances.

One of my favorite teaching moments didn’t happen in a classroom but on a field trip to the beach. Many of my students had never seen the ocean before. As we watched the sunset, I saw kids who carry so much pain finally experience peace. Some even began to cry. They told me they had never felt so free. In that moment, they realized there was a bigger world beyond their struggles, and for a brief time, hope replaced the weight they usually carry.

I would decorate my classroom, have a celebration with my students and give the rest away those who need it the most, my fellow teachers.
