Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because of my teachers in the past. I have always been inspired by them and that is what pushed me to be a teacher. I also wanted the chance to share the love that I have for languages and culture as I am a Spanish teacher.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments teaching is when I had a student that would complain about making them study and practice their vocabulary. They then apologized on their own accord for their actions and stubbornness and said, “thank you for all that you do, you do not deserve how I acted yesterday towards you.” This showed me that the students know I care and that they also care and enjoy my class.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would buy decorations for my classroom, buy new supplies, have students cook and make more cultural food or art pieces. I would also like to take my students to another country to experience the culture and language that they are learning about whether it be to Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, etc. I would invest in my own education and travels so that I can further educate myself on the world that I open up to my students everyday.
