Tell us why you became a teacher

I loved learning and could see a difference between learning from teachers who loved to teach and trying to learn from those who didn't. I wanted to become the teacher who loved teaching and made it easy for students to learn.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Early on in my career I recognized the value of project based and student driven teaching/learning. My most memorable experience was an entire year with a group of students who thrived on project based learning. It was an election year and we organized a school wide election that year complete with campaign speeches and an electoral college. We found ways to fund multiple adventures, including making meals and selling them to teachers as part of our economics unit. We were a family!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would travel. The population of students I work with come from other countries. My greatest learning experiences in the past ten years have been from traveling to the countries my students come from and learning more about their cultures. I also dream of starting a non-profit that will help my students travel!
