That moment when the learning happens, the lightbulb going on, is amazing. Being the one to make it happen is humbling.

I have always wanted to work with kids, and after having quite a few bad teachers in my life, I knew that's where I needed to be. I needed to be the opposite of what I experienced. I wanted kids to know that learning differently is ok. That being wrong is ok, but challenge yourself to figure it out. To be someone who champions them always.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI can't say I have one in particular. Each class has that one kid that leads us to that memorable experience. The student dictates that moment, and I learn from them. Watching one of my students live his dream of making it into pro football, was a humbling and dreamlike experience for me. I think it's watching their success after me that is that moment. Your heart just sings.
What would you do with the $25,000?Science equipment!!! I teach Special Education and we don't have a lab classroom, no microscopes, no basic equipment. I want that. I would love to have the small core Science classes be able to use microscopes in class, beakers, petri dishes, have slides to see cells on. They don't always get that chance because the funding isn't there. To be able to create a closet of equipment strictly for those classes would be incredible!
