Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education is the most powerful way to shape a child’s confidence and future. I wanted to create a classroom where students feel challenged, capable, and deeply supported. Watching children grow — academically and emotionally — is the most meaningful work I can imagine. Teaching allows me to turn my drive into impact and help students discover their own potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment was during small-group reading instruction with a fifth grader reading at a first-grade level. She had been forced to transfer schools, missing her friends, and didn’t like school. She struggled with decoding reading more than 30 words a minutes, but with focused support, she persisted. Over time, she gained confidence, now loves school, and even practices reading at home. Seeing her overcome both emotional and academic obstacles was so rewarding.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I’d pour some of it into professional development, classroom upgrades, and student enrichment to give my students the best opportunities I can. I’d also set aside some for emergencies, retirement, and personal moments, so I can feel secure and fulfilled. My goal would be to make a meaningful impact on my students while also taking care of myself along the way.
