Tell us why you became a teacher

School was always like a second home to me growing up. My teachers valued and inspired me, and I realized at some point that I wanted to be that support person for future generations. I believe education is a fundamental component of our lives that leads to new opportunities. I want to help foster a love for learning in my students by helping them find their own passions and by guiding them to reach their full potential.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my favorite memories includes prepping for a talent show. As part of our Revolutionary War unit, we had watched the musical, Hamilton, and shortly after did a lesson analyzing the lyrics to one of the cabinet rap battles. Some students performed it in class, and eventually this evolved into a skit for the talent show. We spent all week rehearsing during lunch. That Saturday, I watched them perform it live. I was so proud of them showing off their learning and skills!

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would probably put it towards my student loans that I took out to become a teacher.
