Tell us why you became a teacher

I knew in second grade that I wanted to become the teacher I did not have. By eighth grade, I began to understand the kind of teacher I wanted to be. I care deeply about my students and believe every child deserves someone in their corner. I strive to be an individual cheerleader for each student, encouraging them, believing in them, and advocating for their success both in and out of the classroom.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences last year was working with a homebound student who struggled with anxiety and needed one on one instruction. Building trust and helping that student feel comfortable learning again was incredibly meaningful. Seeing their confidence grow reminded me how important patience, support, and individualized instruction are for student success.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would invest it directly into opportunities that help my students grow and feel valued in the classroom. I would expand our classroom library with diverse and engaging books, provide resources that support different learning needs, and create meaningful learning experiences that help students build confidence. My goal would be to ensure every student feels seen, supported, and excited to learn.
