Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to make a difference. I don’t just want to teach the students the standards they need to know but I also want to teach them how to be kind and respectful human beings. I want to make sure all students have an opportunity to learn and become the best versions of themselves.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience is the joy my students had when passing the IREAD assessment. My first year of teaching I had students who had individualized education plans that believed that they wouldn’t pass the test. After all the strategies and preparation many of those students passed the test. The joy and smiles on their faces showed me why I teach everyday. They believed in themselves and have continued to believe in themselves even today.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to reach further into classroom tools and technologies to help insure that I reach any and all students in my class.
