I love teaching because I get to make sure my students have a safe, loving, and educational environment to be in.

I became a teacher for many reasons. First, I had several family members who were teachers growing up. Second, I struggled in school and there were a limited number of people who pushed to get me the help that I needed. These people inspired me to want to do the same for other children. I believe that we have to be the knowledgeable voice and guidance for children so that they are able to access the supports that they need to be successful within the educational environment.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience would have to be when I was working with children in an outplacement setting. One student in particular was having a tough time and all of the professionals around weren’t talking to this student in a caring/compassionate way. I got down on my knees and talked to this student. I didn’t reprimand the student for their behavior rather I validated it and came up with a game plan to move on with our day.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were to win this money I would first pay off my student and car loans. Due to my long commute to work I had to buy a newer more reliable vehicle putting me further into debt. Paying off these debts would allow me to allocate more money towards necessities for my classroom.
