I love being a teacher because I’m there for the whole child—supporting not just academics, but their emotional growth and well-being too.

I wanted to become a teacher because of the impact some of my teachers had on me. I had one teacher especially who helped me through a time when I was very sick and they showed me care beyond the academics. That teaches support taught me that teaching is about more than grades. I love being able to be there for kids emotionally, support them when they struggle, and help them feel seen, valued, and confident both in and out of the classroom.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching moments came from a student who struggled deeply while in my class. I made it a priority to always be there for them. Two years later, after reading Wonder, they wrote a letter to someone who was their “wonder” — and chose me. I still keep that note hanging by my desk. Even after I moved districts, I learned they shared how much they loved me and how I helped them through a hard time.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won $25,000 as America’s Favorite Teacher, I would use it to support both my family and my students. I have college debt and a two-year-old, so part would help create security at home. I would also invest in my classroom by adding resources that support the whole child—academically and emotionally—so every student feels safe, supported, and valued each day.
