Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe the right teacher can change a child’s entire future. I wanted to create a classroom where students feel supported, capable, and excited to learn. Seeing students gain confidence, discover their strengths, and realize their potential is what motivates me every day. Teaching allows me to make a lasting difference not only academically, but in the lives of the students I care about.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences was watching a student who struggled with confidence begin to believe in themselves. At the start of the year, they were hesitant to participate and often doubted their abilities. With encouragement and patience, they slowly started raising their hand and sharing their ideas. By the end of the year, their confidence had grown tremendously. Moments like that remind me that teaching is not just about academics—it’s about helping students see their potential.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I were awarded $25,000, I would use it to invest in both my family and my future as an educator. I would continue my education to grow professionally and become the best teacher I can be for my students. I would also use a portion to make my classroom an even more welcoming, safe space for learning. My husband and I hope to start a family soon, and this would help us feel more financially secure while beginning to save for our future child’s education.
