I became a teacher because it feels second nature. As a third generation educator on my father’s side, I grew up surrounded by lesson plans, school events, and conversations about students. I saw the time, grit, and determination teaching requires. Watching my family’s dedication shaped me, and I embraced the commitment with pride.

My most memorable teaching experiences come from building strong relationships with my students and their families. Being invited to celebrate milestones and attend activities outside of the classroom reminds me that teaching goes far beyond academics. Those connections create trust, support, and a true sense of community that makes my work deeply meaningful.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 to provide meaningful field trips that expand our students’ learning beyond the classroom and expose them to new experiences. Funds would also help establish and organize a school-based pantry and closet stocked with food, clothing, and essential home necessities to support students and families in need, ensuring every child feels supported, prepared, and ready to learn.
