Tell us why you became a teacher

In high school, I watched classmates talk about dropping out because they hated school. That stuck with me. I realized students need teachers who help them find the joy in learning before they give up on it. That’s why I chose middle school. It’s the stage where students begin shaping their mindset about education, and I want to help them see that learning can open doors.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was during my first year as a teacher, when I was responsible for both 6th-grade math and science. When our math test scores came back, I was called to the principal’s office because every single one of my students had passed the 6th-grade Math EOG—and not only did they pass, but they also demonstrated measurable academic growth. That moment solidified my belief in the power of high expectations, consistent support, and building strong relationships.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use a portion of it to pay down my mortgage, which would provide greater financial stability and long-term security for my family. I would also invest some of it into remodeling and improving areas of my home that need updates. This would not only increase the value of my home but also create a more comfortable and welcoming space for my family.
