Tell us why you became a teacher

When I was in high school, my math teacher Mr.Adams was the first teacher who really took the time to understand me. He knew when I was having an off day and would make sure I had what I needed to get out of the funk and be successful on those hard days a well. Sadly he took his own life from having PTSD. I became a teacher to be there for the students, to make sure they knew at least one person was doing their best to make them successful. I teach in memory of one of my most memorable teachers.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I teach kindergarten. There are many memorable moments but if I had to choose one I would say my 2nd year teaching. I had a really tough class with many different behaviors. There was multiple days where I went home thinking I was failing them. I had a few parents reach out through the year explaining the difference I was making. What would you do with the $25,000?

I would love to help out my sister and her husband and give them some “fun” money. They both work so hard and don’t always have the money to do extra things for themselves. My heart is always typically bigger than my wallet and so this money would help out with being a blessing to a few families in my life. With any leftover, I would use it to fix a few things in my house such as new windows and flooring.
