I love teaching because of the meaningful relationships I build with my students and becoming a trusted adult.

I became a teacher because I’ve always loved learning and wanted to share that enthusiasm with my students. I believe deeply in the value of passionate teachers and the opportunities they create through educating. I chose special education because I wanted my students to see that learning is possible for everyone, including those with disabilities, and to help them recognize their own abilities and potential. It’s important to me that they feel empowered, capable, and supported as they grow.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was receiving an email from the mother of a former student. This student had struggled significantly in school and faced many challenges. In the email, she shared that her daughter was now in college, earning a 4.0 GPA. She thanked me for the role I played in her journey, and that moment has stayed with me. It was a powerful reminder that the work we do as educators has a lasting impact, and that with the right support they can do anything!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would set aside part of the money to create opportunities beyond the classroom, such as field trips, guest speakers, or career exploration activities, so students can connect their learning to their futures.Ultimately, I would use the $25,000 to ensure all students feel supported, capable, and inspired to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face.
