I come from a family in education, who all inspired me to teach. I chose special education after seeing how my brother, with Autism was treated in school; it fueled my passion to advocate for underserved students and families in my community. My time in the Air Force, grounded in “service before self,” strengthened my commitment to supporting others and creating equitable opportunities for every learner.

While exploring informational texts on 1950s toys, my students were shocked by how different they compared to today's. Their reactions turned into curiosity as we searched how this evolved with technology and culture. What started as "these are scary? " became "what will toys look like when we're grown?". A perfect blend of literacy, science and imagination.

I would use the funds to continue uplifting underserved students by expanding access to meaningful, inclusive school supports. Additionally, I would invest in growing my business, AurPlace, to bring us closer to securing a dedicated building. A safe, welcoming space to provide consistent, reliable support for individuals with Autism.
