Tell us why you became a teacher

To understand your purpose you must understand the universe and the language it speaks; mathematics. I saw a problem in my community that I committed to solve as a 13 year old freshman in Geometry class.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience as a teacher was providing students an opportunity to construct their dream home using geometric concepts covered in the course. Creating is the highest form of learning, so to see each student create personalized homes from family homes to geriatric friendly homes with access ramps that would be up to OSHA code was one of my most memorable experiences.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use it to provide the space for me to create opportunities to give back to our youth both inside the classroom and out in the community. Within the classroom, I would like to continue my lifelong learning journey by pursuing a doctorate and attending professional development like the southern California mathematics teacher conference. Outside the classroom I would like to fund gym memberships for the Boxing Club I lead currently. I would like to be able to buy supplies or transportation.
