Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe school can change the direction of a kid’s life. Not just with content, but with confidence. I want students to leave my room thinking harder, writing stronger, and believing they are capable of more than they though.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was watching a student who struggled all year with confidence finally find his voice during a class discussion. He had barely spoken for months. That day, he jumped in and defended his thinking with clarity. The class listened. You could see it click for him. In that moment, he saw himself differently, and that’s why I teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would partner with our guidance department to identify students facing food and clothing insecurity and make sure resources reach those who need them most. Together we would expand weekend food support and create a discreet system for essentials like snacks, hygiene items, and clothing. Every student deserves to walk into school focused, confident, and ready to learn.
